Optical Engineering

In 2017, the discipline of optical engineering was approved as one of the first high-level innovation teams of provincial universities. In 2018, it was granted the right to award a master's degree in a first-class discipline. In the same year, it was selected into the university's first-class discipline construction plan. At present, there are 18 full-time teachers, 14 with senior professional titles, including 6 professors, 1 national excellent teacher, 1 national model teacher honorary title, 1 key training personnel funded by the "Provincial 151 Talent Project", 2 at the second level and 1 at the third level; One provincial outstanding youth, one provincial excellent university teacher, one Elsevier China high cited scholar from 2015 to 2022, and two provincial young and middle-aged discipline leaders. The discipline also employs two winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars as external experts. In recent years, it has won 6 provincial and ministerial scientific research achievement awards and undertaken more than 90 scientific research projects, including 26 national projects. More than 30 invention patents and more than 60 practical patents were authorized, and 5 scientific research monographs were published. In the past five years, more than 160 papers have been included in sci, including 1 regular journal of Nature and 1 Nature Chemistry, 10 ESI hot papers, and 16 ESI highly cited papers. The discipline has a close cooperation relationship with the School of Optoelectronic Science and Engineering of the University of National Defense Sciences and the Key Laboratory of Beam Control of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The discipline has three research directions: nonlinear optical applications, light field regulation and application, and soft matter optoelectronics. The research focuses on the nonlinear soliton phenomenon generated in materials under the action of strong coherent light, light field regulation and design, and their applications in optical imaging and image processing, as well as the influence of micro action on the structure, energy band, luminescence and other physical properties of soft materials. Through the study of this major, students can master the basic theory and professional knowledge of optical engineering, have the ability to engage in scientific research, teaching or undertake professional and technical work, and become the urgently needed application-oriented and composite high-level engineering professional and technical senior talents in advanced manufacturing industries and schools such as photoelectric and information enterprises, new materials, new energy, etc.
